Treasury committee could investigate LOBOs

Treasury select committee chairman Andrew Tyrie has hinted he will launch an inquiry into the sale of the controversial Lender Option Borrow Option (LOBO) loans.

Treasury select committee chairman Andrew Tyrie has hinted he will launch an inquiry into the sale of the controversial Lender Option Borrow Option (LOBO) loans.

An open letter, signed by former Camden LBC chief executive Jeremy Smith, senior councillors and MPs, called on the committee and the Financial Conduct Authority to investigate how 250 councils had come to take out at least £15bn worth of LOBO loans.
