The Department for Work and Pensions has again shifted the date for full implementation of Universal Credit.
The new benefit system, which replaces six other benefits, was due to be fully embedded during 2017. However it has been hit by a raft of criticisms and a series of delays – with the latest target announced this week now 2024, a delay of nine months. Some 900,000 people are still to transfer from the old system to Universal Credit.
