Various Roles - Sandwell MBC

Children's Social Care in Sandwell has had a tough time and  past performance has been well publicised. But we're striving hard for purposeful change, and we'll never forget the reasons why. This is about giving children and their families their strongest voice yet. In these key roles, you'll be at the heart of our efforts.

Group Head – Service Manager – Safeguarding
Up to £66,349 plus £5,000 one off retention payment

You'll be the professional lead for Children's Services for Safeguarding and our Children's Safeguarding Board. This means you'll have the chance to work with IROs, Child Protection Conference Chairs and other leaders in our field to develop new and better ways of working to improve front-line practice. With caseloads now below the national average, we're already making an impact. You'll build on this work, managing quality, auditing cases and delivering an impeccable Safeguarding service.

Group Head – Service Manager – Early Help
Up to £66,349 plus £5,000 one off retention payment

We'll look to you to lead the delivery of the Early Help service, which is a really important part of our new operating model.  It's an opportunity to be the linchpin in a whole new system that will see children get the help that they need via seven ‘Community Operating Groups' (COGs), comprising a number of key partners. It's an exciting and innovative approach –  and we'll look to you to spearhead its success.

Whichever role you take, you'll play your part in creating a new culture and making sure it works. To join us, you must be a senior manager and qualified social worker. With your drive for measurable improvement, you'll make sure every child has a voice –  and a Council that always listens. Registered with the HCPC and an Enhanced DBS is an essential requirement for both posts.

For more information please contact our Penna consultants Rebecca Jones on 07717 324763  or Maggie Hennessy on 07877 004648.

Closing date for both roles: Monday, 6 January 2014.
