Watchdog proposes planning reforms

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has drawn up proposed reforms to the planning system.

In a newly-published working paper, the CMA said the UK, Scottish and Welsh Governments should consider a zoning or rules-based approach with ‘reduced discretionary decision-making' to streamline the system and make it more efficient.
