Funding cuts to local government do not undermine the economic direction of devolution, Northern Powerhouse minister James Wharton has claimed.

At an event last night, Jim McMahon MP, who played a key role in the transformation of Greater Manchester when he was leader of Oldham MBC, clashed with Mr Wharton over the role of devolution in the Government's drive for economic prosperity in the North.
