What's the future for digital democracy without virtual meetings?

Handforth Parish Council aside, if we can't hold council meeting via Zoom beyond 6 May, what will democracy look like after the elections, asks Kathy O'Leary

A year ago, it would have been difficult to imagine a council meeting where an argumentative chair could be removed and placed in a virtual waiting room, let alone foresee that the recording would go viral on social media and spawn a myriad of spoofs.

While we haven't all become legends in our own living rooms by transgressing online meeting etiquette, we have become accustomed to the remote meetings necessitated by the restrictions placed upon us by the pandemic.
