Wilshaw: Police failings mean Rotherham abuse could be repeated

The ‘catastrophic failings’ that put children at harm in Rotherham and Oxfordshire could be repeated if police forces do not prioritise safeguarding of young people, Ofsted’s chief inspector Sir Michael Wilshaw has warned.

The ‘catastrophic failings' that put children at harm in Rotherham and Oxfordshire could be repeated if police forces do not prioritise safeguarding of young people, Ofsted's chief inspector Sir Michael Wilshaw has warned.

In a damning letter, chief inspector of constabulary Sir Thomas Winsor was told that failure to share information with local authorities and a lack of collaboration with social workers was putting children at risk in ‘many' areas that Ofsted inspected last year.
