More certainty on the Government's waste reform programme has been promised after mandarins were taken to task over delays.

Senior civil servants from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) yesterday appeared before the Public Accounts Committee to discuss the reforms, which include introducing consistent waste collections and the extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme.
