Chancellor George Osborne will become ‘uncomfortably dependent' on improved economic judgments by the Office for Budget Responsibility, (OBR) a post-Budget analysis has suggested.

In the aftermath of a Budget described by the independent Institute for Fiscal Studies as ‘not a big fiscal event', the think-tank warned the biggest risk to the chancellor's still-precarious public finances was an over-estimation of the UK's long-term health by the OBR.
