Former communities minister Baroness Warsi has questioned the quality of civil servants at the Department for Communities and Local Government, claiming Marsham Street ‘seemed to attract less-able' personnel.

In a candid interview about the civil service with the Institute for Government think-tank, Baroness Warsi, who served at the DCLG between 2012 and 2014, said the quality of advice at the department compared unfavourably with other Whitehall bodies.
