MPs have written to levelling up secretary Michael Gove asking what support the government is providing to councils facing deep spending cuts amid the sector’s financial crisis.

MPs have written to levelling up secretary Michael Gove asking what support the government is providing to councils facing deep spending cuts amid the sector's financial crisis.

The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) committee, chaired by Clive Betts MP, has asked Mr Gove to highlight the advice and support his department is providing to town halls to prepare them for the annual cuts of 2.3% in unprotected spending forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) from 2025.
