Braintree DC has accused the Home Office of acting ‘against the spirit of national planning policy' by using a Special Development Order (SDO) to extend use of a controversial asylum centre.
The Home Office intends to use a SDO - secondary legislation granting planning permission for specific developments – to extend asylum operations at the former RAF Wethersfield airbase in Essex for three years from April.
