Andy Burnham has expressed an interest in joining the Local Government Association (LGA) after the group revealed it wanted the mayors on board.

The MJ understands that embryonic discussions over the idea of the six new combined authority mayors joining the LGA have already taken place – with the association keen to expand both its membership and remit in partnership with powerful local figureheads.
