Cameron pledges action in the wake of riots

Prime minister David Cameron has pledged to put more police on the streets and declared ‘all out war’ on the gang culture.

Prime minister David Cameron today came under pressure to launch a full public inquiry into last week's riots – but instead pledged to put more police on the streets and declared 'all out war' on the gang culture blighting some council estates.

As localities damaged by last week's events across England continued their clean-up operations and sought to rebuild community relations, Mr Cameron and Labour leader Ed Miliband delivered response speeches in their home areas of Oxfordshire and north London.
