More money on top of spending pledges made by the Government ahead of the General Election will be required to improve outcomes, public sector experts have warned.

More money on top of spending pledges made by the Government ahead of the General Election will be required to improve outcomes, public sector experts have warned.

Analysis by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and Institute for Government (IfG) published yesterday found that in most cases current spending pledges by Whitehall will sustain service standards following nine years of spending curbs – except in the crucial area of adult social care, where any future government would need to spend £1bn more annually just to keep pace with demand.
