Business leaders have backed the Government's £1bn plan to tackle rising numbers of youngsters not in training.

Business leaders have backed the Government's £1bn plan to tackle rising numbers of youngsters not in education, employment or training (Neets) – but local authorities have urged ministers not to wait until April to launch the schemes.

Deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, announced on 25 November a £1bn ‘Youth contract' initiative designed to get ‘every young person working or learning again'.
