I know the Government and the Civil Service are very busy at the moment, and I have a great deal of admiration for the good work they do. If there was one thing I would ask following the Brexit outcome, it is whether we can look at how national policy is prepared and joined-up.
For example, the recent Stronger Towns Fund, Future High Streets Fund, Local Industrial Strategies (LIS), Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP) reviews, and associated funding all seem to have different operating models and responsibilities that only come to light on the announcement on the new bid process. Is it endorsed by the LEP or county or both? Who actually gets the money?
