COI closure 'makes no sense at all' rails Prospect chief

Civil service unions in uproar over 'out of touch' closure of government ad-agency COI with loss of 400 specialist jobs.

Civil servants have criticised the government's decision to close the Central Office of Information, warning it puts 400 specialist jobs at risk and is out of touch with plans to centralise many of Whitehall's core functions.

Paul Noon, general secretary of the Prospect union representing Whitehall staff, said the government's communications proposals made ‘no sense at all'.
