Watchdogs overseeing Parliament’s controversial expenses system have been criticised for their administration of the reformed scheme, introduced following the 2009 scandal – sparking fears the new regime is too costly.

Watchdogs overseeing Parliament's controversial expenses system have been criticised for their administration of the reformed scheme, introduced following the 2009 scandal – sparking fears the new regime is too costly.

The Commons' influential public accounts committee (PAC) claimed that while the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) had done a ‘good job' introducing tighter controls over MPs' expenses following the scandal, the current scheme was expensive.
