An influential group of experts – including council directors – has urged ministers to ditch ‘senseless’ plans to tighten visa requirements for social care and health workers.

An influential group of experts – including council directors – has urged ministers to ditch ‘senseless' plans to tighten visa requirements for social care and health workers.

The Cavendish Coalition, a group of health and care-related bodies, said that rather than impose fresh restrictions on potential overseas staff, the UK government must do more to attract international applicants to plug gaps in health and social care staffing.
