Council tenants and staff receive riots warnings

Communities secretary Eric Pickles has responded to doubts that councils have the power to make homeless those convicted of rioting.

The political response to this week's rioting across the UK escalated today, when a minister said he would consider new laws to make perpetrators homeless – while the leader of one affected council warned his own staff he would sack anybody involved in the disturbances.
