Major councils have launched into another critique of official immigration statistics, warning the latest local population figures – and the finance settlements that result from them – are again inaccurate and likely to heap pressure on local public services.

Westminster, Manchester and Bristol city councils have all criticised the latest immigration figures published by the Office for National Statistics, and warned that they have significantly underestimated local populations.
