Chancellor George Osborne has delivered a bleak short-term forecast for the UK economy, with growth predictions for the next two years revised.

Chancellor George Osborne has delivered a bleak short-term forecast for the UK economy, with growth predictions for the next two years revised downwards significantly – a move that will impact further on public spending and jobs.

Mr Osborne delivered his long-awaited Autumn Statement this afternoon, and presented forecasts by the independent Office for Budget Responsibility that now indicate the UK's economic growth will be just 0.9% in 2011.
