Whitehall proposals to regulate short-term holiday lets fail to deliver what is needed to tackle housing shortages and ministers should think ‘more radically,' councils have said.

In frank submissions to two Whitehall consultations, the District Councils Network (DCN) said measures ministers have proposed to limit the purchase of second homes for holiday lets ‘represent only a relatively small step'.
