Councils seek talks with community leaders in the wake of London riots

London councils have called for talks with local community leaders after two nights of rioting on the capital’s streets.

Council leaders in London have responded to two nights of rioting on the capital's streets by calling for calm and immediate talks with local community leaders aimed at preventing further violence.

Doug Taylor, leader of Enfield LBC, where violence erupted on Sunday night, said: 'I am appalled by the mindless violence we witnessed in Enfield last night.'There is no justification for such behaviour, which was an attack on Enfield, its people and its businesses. It is important that the whole community pulls together, remains calm and moved forward.'
