Croydon LBC will seek more financial support from Whitehall amid concerns fresh savings are being eaten up by soaring interest rates and emergency housing costs.

Ministers have agreed a capitalisation deal allowing Croydon to raise an additional £63m for 2023-24 but the council, which issued a third section 114 notice in November, remains £1.3bn in debt.
