Department ditches 'levelling up' moniker

Prime minister Keir Starmer has ditched Whitehall’s 'levelling up' department and re-named it with immediate effect – signalling an end to the controversial brand.

Prime minister Keir Starmer has ditched Whitehall's 'levelling up' department and re-named it with immediate effect – signalling an end to the controversial brand.

The MJ understands that, from today (8 July), the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has been re-named as the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
