End of the road for Barnett?

The abolition of the controversial 1970s Barnett spending formula is one of the headline proposals in the LGA’s new guide to local government

England's local government leaders have revealed plans to abolish the controversial Barnett formula used to distribute funding to the UK's regions and devolved states.

The Local Government Association's (LGA) muchanticipated Rewiring Public Services report – outlining Smith Square's future policy ambitions – was published as delegates gathered for the organisation's annual conference in Manchester on 2 July.
