Ethics under the spotlight with launch of PCC Code

The Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) has urged local police and crime commissioners (PCCs) to ‘take a stronger lead on police ethics’.

The Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) has urged local police and crime commissioners (PCCs) to ‘take a stronger lead on police ethics'.

A new code of ethics has been published by the College of Policing, and the CPSL wants the elected PCCs to be at the forefront of ensuring that police forces now fully implement and uphold the code.

It follows growing police and public concern about the behaviour of some police officers and forces – such as revelations that the Metropolitan Police Service, for example, shredded reams of documents relating to internal corruption inquiries.
