Leicestershire CC's beleaguered leader, Cllr David Parsons, is facing a police probe into his travel and expenses claims, The MJ can reveal.

Sources said police have been asked to investigate expenses payments and receipts related to Cllr Parsons' travel arrangements and role on the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), after it emerged that he arranged for CoR payments ultimately due to the regional East Midlands Councils (EMC) body to be paid directly into his personal bank accounts.
