Forcing staff working for local government-linked organisations to leave the sector’s pension scheme would throw funds into ‘chaos', the GMB claims.

Forcing staff working for local government-linked contractors and charities to leave the sector's £120bn pension scheme would throw funds into ‘chaos' and undermine their long-term stability, a leading trade union has warned.

The GMB union is urging ministers to reject a key recommendation from former Labour cabinet minister, Lord Hutton, following his review of public sector pensions – because it would remove key employers who want to pay into the scheme.
