Council directors are concerned police forces could end involvement in ‘welfare checks' as part of controversial care reforms to stop attending non-emergency mental health callouts.

The MJ has learned that some police forces want to extend new powers under the Right Care, Right Person (RCRP) regime – potentially withdrawing officers from a broader range of activities.
