Last month's elections were the largest set in the four-year cycle and, unsurprisingly given the political climate, they've resulted in an upswing in hung councils. Across the country, there's been a nearly 40% increase in authorities under no over control, with 26 joining the 66 already in existence.
And it's not just political analysts who are getting animated about the situation. Those of us who previously served as senior councillors or officers were fascinated with the results. Old habits die hard, they say.
