A new ‘dedicated, mission-driven’ institution to halt future pandemics will build on existing expertise and new capabilities developed during COVID, says the secretary of state for health and care.

A new ‘dedicated, mission-driven' institution to halt future pandemics will build on existing expertise and new capabilities developed during COVID, says the secretary of state for health and care.

Matt Hancock said today that the new UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)  - which represents a change of name from the initial working organisational name of the National Institute for Health Protection – will act as a system leader for health security.
