ICO criticises housing data breaches

Information Commissioner criticises two london based housing bodies about data breach.

Two London-based housing bodies have been criticised by the Information Commissioner after personal information on their tenants –including bank account details – were found on a memory stick left in a pub.

The Information Commissioner's Office confirmed on 4 August that Lewisham Homes and the Wandle Housing Association (WHA) had breached the Data Protection Act when the unencrypted memory stick was found and later handed in to the police.
