Residents could be more likely to apply for less secure postal votes if polling station ID requirements become too onerous, a senior political strategist has warned.

In a detailed review of the five major voter ID pilots at last month's local government elections, director of the Political Skills Forum, Paul Wheeler, warned against imposing too many requirements on residents.
