Impact of armchair auditors overstated

IT experts body Socitm claims government has over-stated the role of ‘armchair auditors’ in oversight of public services.

The coalition has over-stated the role of ‘armchair auditors' in the oversight of public services, with Whitehall's snowballing Open Data programme more likely to support organisational improvement, an influential IT group has claimed.

Socitm, the association for public IT professionals, last week issued its formal response to ministers' Open Data consultation, which closed on 27 October.
