The IMPOWER Annual Impact Report

IMPOWER's first annual impact report highlighting the results achieved across different projects and markets since January 2022 will be launched at the LGA annual conference, says Sean Hanson

The Local Government Association (LGA) Conference sees the anticipated launch of a major publication detailing the sucessful work IMPOWER has undertaken this year

At IMPOWER, we are motivated by the inherent belief that the work we do with our clients ultimately achieves two things; we enable authorities to achieve better outcomes for their citizens whilst achieving their medium-term financial strategy.

It is also important that we back up our commitments by delivering sustainable impact that remains on a strong trajectory after the life of an IMPOWER project or commission. It is simply not enough to deliver a comprehensive evaluation and analysis and leave clients with a list of recommendations. We support our clients to tackle complex challenges and influence strengths-based practice at the front line, driving long-term change through a number of tools, including technology (and AI where appropriate), applied analytics and co-production.

When I joined IMPOWER nearly a year ago, I was taken aback by the level of expertise and passion amongst our teams, and the impact they had achieved in partnership with our clients. And I'm delighted to be able to aggregate that impact into a publication which we will launch at the LGA Annual Conference.

Our first annual impact report highlights the results we have achieved across our different projects and markets since January 2022. Case studies tell the story of our transformation approach and the outcomes achieved for citizens. Individual spotlight pieces bring to life the difference we have made for an individual, and indeed their families. Across more than 50 assignments, we've identified and delivered millions of pounds of savings, helped people get home quicker from hospital and stay at home safely for longer, helped vulnerable children get the right care, and helped children with additional needs, who can do so, to stay in mainstream education where their life chances are hugely enhanced.

Our post-project legacy is demonstrated through sustainable impact and system resilience. But don't just take our word for it, hear what our clients have to say in the report.

Our unique EDGEWORK theory of change and capabilities gives us the ability to bring about sustainable legacy for our clients.

We are the local authority transformation partner of choice for many of our clients, and we'd love to have a conversation to understand how we can support your organisation.

Katy Calvin-Thomas, chief executive of Manchester Local Care Organisation, said: ‘IMPOWER have been really challenging in a good way. They are really clear that they are bringing thinking and methodologies that they have done elsewhere, and it's worked. They bring those and tweak them as we go along. They helped us to introduce concepts of demand management and broke that demand into sectors where you can embed it into practice and make it real – it's what makes them different to other consultancies.

'Also, they are always there for you. They are there to build things with you, leave a legacy and empower the staff they work alongside. The IMPOWER ethos works really well for us – it's clear but very inclusive. It makes a big difference to work with a company that you can see really cares.'
