More councils could follow Islington LBC's lead and introduce a policy of withdrawing council contracts from firms that avoid paying corporation tax, The MJ has learned.

 Labour-led Islington LBC last week revealed it could terminate future contracts worth £5m or more in cases where it could be shown that the firm involved has not complied with its tax obligations.
