Keeping that personal touch

it’s possible with foresight to design the councils of the future in a way that can adapt to rapidly changing demands without losing that personal touch where it is needed most, says Lawrence Conway.

It can be difficult, what with local reorganisation activities and a deadline bearing down on you, to focus one's mind on just district matters, as all aspects of public service delivery collide in a whirl of disconnected moments, only now beginning to fall together under one – or in our case, two – umbrellas.

Thankfully, those residents, businesses and visitors we serve soon remind you of what you are there to do, and do well. Public sector reform isn't on their list of priorities.
