Local authority pension funds have described as ‘sensible' James Murdoch's decision to step down as chair of BSkyB, amid further revelations in the ongoing ‘hacking' scandal.

The Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF), which represents 55 of the 101 retirement funds within the £150bn Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), had actively pursued Mr Murdoch's resignation as BSkyB's chair.
