Slow progress in insulating homes will cost the Government at least £4.2bn over the next two years, according to the Local Government Association (LGA).
As UK ministers prepare to spend tens of billions of pounds protecting families and businesses from soaring energy bills via price caps, the LGA has estimated that poorly-insulated homes will ‘leak' £12.7bn of energy over two years, with a third of that cost being incurred by the Government under its recently announced energy price guarantee.
