Council pension funds have demanded tough new requirements forcing firms with contested remuneration policies to issue public statements outlining how they will reform excessive pay structures.

The Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF) said large corporations should be required to issue an official market statement disclosing their future remuneration plans in the wake of a major shareholder rebellion against a firm's pay regime.
