A leading director of public health has warned of the risks of ‘rushing out of lockdown too soon' as schoolchildren this week returned to classrooms.

Director of public health at Sandwell MBC, Lisa McNally, said overall infection rates, the emergence of new variants and the current level of vaccination coverage backed arguments for lockdown to be eased slowly.
