Ministers should devolve long-term and simplified funding for back to work schemes to overcome record economic inactivity, the Local Government Association (LGA) has urged.

An LGA study published this week warned the UK's nine million economically inactive people risked being cut adrift permanently ‘due to a complex patchwork of disconnected national schemes and services that fail to directly address their needs'.
