Poor behaviour by some councillors at Spelthorne BC is damaging the authority's reputation and causing staff retention problems, local government peers have warned.

In a critical Local Government Association (LGA)-led corporate peer challenge, discussed at Spelthorne's full council meeting last week, reviewers said the authority had been stymied by problematic relationships between councillors – and between some councillors and officers.
