LGA spared top-slice cash cuts

Whitehall plans to take sector-led improvement cash out of the hands of the Local Government Association (LGA) have been scrapped, The MJ has learned.

Whitehall plans to take sector-led improvement cash out of the hands of the Local Government Association (LGA) have been scrapped, The MJ has learned.

Under the previous communities secretary, Eric Pickles, the Government had mooted a plan to take the top-slice cash – which was £23.4m in 2015-16 – out of the LGA budget and outsource the process.
