Opposition MPs have attacked coalition plans to reintroduce a 'poverty test' to the social housing sector ahead of an attempt to veto the proposal through Parliament.

Labour's local government team urged ministers to drop what they consider to be 'Victorian' plans to ask families to leave council homes once their income rises above a certain level.
