Neill invites bids for equal pay cash

Local government minister Bob Neill has invited applications for this year’s round of equal pay capitalisation directions.

Local government minister Bob Neill has invited applications for this year's round of equal pay capitalisation directions – but has warned only authority's that desperately need the cash to meet backdated legal obligations will be considered.

Mr Neill announced on 25 July that he is now taking applications for capitalisation permissions – which allow councils to borrow against, or sell, their assets to meet their financial obligations for backdated equal pay claims.
