Newcastle City Council is considering a move into the mortgage-lending market.

Newcastle City Council is considering a move into the mortgage-lending market, under its snowballing plan to become a ‘co-operative council'.

Cllr Nick Forbes, Newcastle's Labour leader, this week told The MJ the authority could, in future, provide mortgage finance to small groups of people within a neighbourhood interested in forming a co-operative housing group.
